I have the 05 vert. People who ride in my car tell me that my vert is pretty quiet comparing to older vert. I can't say personally because this is the only vert i know. I love the car.
I have a 96 GT Vert and a 05 GT Vert. 05 is much quieter. No squeeks or rattles like the 96. Body flex over bumps is a ton better on the new vert as well.
Shaker 500 sound system is light years ahead of the old Mach 460 too.
When driving, the new car is much quieter at speed with the top up compared to the old one. With the top down, I do get more wind in the new vert though.
