I am looking to purchase a '05 or '06 Mustang GT with an Automatic.

Is there any significant differences between '05 or '06?

Do either of these models have any known issues that I should watch out for?

Thanks.

there aren't any major differences until 08 when the head was redesigned for the sparkplug...other than that the only differences throughout the years are available options for the cars.

07's saw the first changes which were mostly structural, i.e. more welding/bracing and a few tuning changes.

as stated 08's were also reworked for the sparkplugs.

nowadays i say go with the newest build you can find/afford. Evolution has a meaning.

Early '05s had Global Window Opening/Closing so you could open and close the windows using the key fob. That's the only feature the 05 has the 06 doesn't. But I'd go for the newest you could afford.

I bought my 06 in the summer of 06 and then shortly afterward I discovered Ford added an iPod MP3 jack in the center armrest for the 07 model. Why the heck doesn't every car made after say 2003 have an iPod jack? The simple installation of a jack that would cost only a few friggin' bucks would suddenly have so much more appeal to anyone/everyone that has an iPod. So, I ended up spending many hundreds replacing the stereo with an iPod capable system. Thus, my recommendation would be an 07.

yup, iPod connection is a biggie for 07 and up...plus, isn't that the year they fixed the problem with the tint scratching on the driver and passenger windows?

That advice may have been sound 10 or 20 years ago, but it is not really an issue in modern vehicles. Plus, the 2005 Mustangs are every bit as reliable as the 06-09's.

Tint scratching was solved in the 08's. They came with the "moleskin" felt.
