From what little I've seen I'm not a huge fan. Looks like the illegitamite love child of a Hyundai Tiburon and a Nissan 350 Z. But that's me. And for the cost, I'd want the new stang... actually, no, I'd want to put that toward an '07 GT 500. But that's a whole nother price range.

Is anyone else sick of all the similar looking Japanese sportscars and all the attention they get?
For one, they all look about the same. I know they're competing with each other, but the Mustang and GM pony cars competed for 35 years without ever looking similar.
Another thing is while their engines are making decent power for their size, having a V6 as a the top of the line is just pathetic. And to get the most powerful V6 in these cars, you're gonna pay too much. I think it's laughable that a 350z Convertible costs around $8k more than the Mustang GT convertible that would smoke it all day long. How is that worth it?

Obviously these cars are not performance bargains. So I guess the question is; Is it worth it to you to buy an overpriced car because you saw it on Mtv and in the NFS Underground series, and because your ricer friends think it's cool?

For the record, I wouldn't say I hate imports. I just hate the attention they've been getting from my stupid generation. It should never have been cool to get the hand-me-down Civic from your parents; and whoever tricked these kids into thinking it was has a special place in hell. Plus, I've seen ricers drive. They must kill more people than cancer.

my main drawback for it, is that the GT requires premium gas...and well, it doesn't seem like gas is getting cheaper, so it's even gonna cost more to own the thing. Also, it's not around 25k fully loaded, it's over 30k fully loaded, yick!

Sorry, but in my opinion it's still a chick's ricer. Also now it's got more of an egg shape to it. However that's just me

P.S. Yay! first person on page two!

All sooooo true.

In one of the latest issues of Road&Track they featured a couple page article on the new Eclipse. Then they compared it to (of all cars) a 2005 Mustang GT and 200? 350Z........

The Stang killed the Eclipse in every category except for weight and something else I can't remember right now. (can't find that issue right now, but when I do I'll let ya know)

I see nothing special about the interior:

I glows blue. SO WHAT!? Mine does too.
Special headunit maybe is the only thing that it has on me (I'm still working on that)

The only reason car companies these days use aftermarket stereos is because they know they can't make anything better. It's also aimed at the "young tuner crowd" that the FnF movies made popular. My dad thinks his car ( 2005 Chrysler Pacifica *cough* MINIVAN! *cough*) is the greatest because he has a 200 watt Infinity stereo system.( 7 mid-range speakers, and 2 tweeters, amp under back seat) I don't care my stereo with the stock headunit can still out power him anyday.

I see the celica as a bit more of a chick ricer, but I see where you're coming from with the eclipse too. In fact, I see them all as somewhat effeminate and... well... not masculine...

Has anyone here ever driven a 350Z? There's a lot more to that car than just power. It may not have as much power as a Mustang, but it sticks to the road like glue and feels great. IMO, they're not in the same category.

the 300hp version of the Z only gets 2 mpg better...and only in the city, and not to mention it's a 2 seater.

Eclipses arn't that powerful. On the first day that I got my car I raced it (good thing i didn't go with it because i was thinking of getting one, it was the newer one but not the new one). I beated it but there was about 1 to 1.5 car lengths from me. Last night I raced an eclipse(the older one, mid 90's) and the highway and i smoked it. It couldn't catch up from start to finish. I don't know if he was stock but I was.

Geez...The new Eclipse commercial on TV has to be the worst car commercial I've ever seen. Bunch of stupid people banging drums. I hate to say that even the Civic Nation commercials weren't as pointless as this one.

You didn't get the point of the commercial. It's point is that it's trying to sell it to tribial people from the amazon who are being held captive by rich business men.
