I think it is a VERY cool option! and VALUE priced compared to what is out there on the aftermarket now...

If buying an '09, I would surely opt for the glassback!!!!! IMO it looks better on darker colored cars as the black around the roof edges blends in better.

I had my vista blue glassback '07 at a car show last summer and the guy next to me didn't notice it was a glassback until midday! It really is that subtle.

The glass roof is cool, but not my style. The dealers by me have actually been installing them (I think the CDC version) on new cars and charging $3k for it. I vaugely remember reading a while back that the ballpark option figure would be around the same. Anyone have any updates on that price?

about $3k is right for the cdc glassback. the ford price is reportedly $2k.

devil's advocate....

Well, its very beautiful but I'm also wondering what opinions will be over time with daily use. I would think it gets really hot in there despite the glass being treated to reduce cabin cooling time by 50%. Also, its a nice lookout only if it is kept clean. I have heard people refer to glass tops as casseroles but then again it was years ago and technology has improved. My 2cents.

I remember reading somewhere that CDC wanted to do this with the 99-04 cars, but the platform wasn't stiff enough to put a glass roof on.

I’d get one, great for people who get edgy in convertibles. I wonder if the novelty would wear off and you’ll get used to it?
