A $3000 dollar markup?? Is this dealer crazy? Any one that paid that markup would be crazy.

They are doing that crap here in Virginia too, the salesman qoted me 29k for a new gt

It seems that they are all starting to do that, at least here in So Cal. Even the dealers that originally were selling at MSRP or below. I was at Ken Grody in Carlsbad yesterday and they got in a Black GT and sold it within 5 minutes at 3000 over MSRP.

I'm just glad Im getting mine at A plan, whenever the damn this comes in. And all I was trying to say is there are those people that are paying it, and so it looks like if you want one and haven't ordered it, you are either going to pay top dollar or have to wait until they come back down to earth.

Wow ... That blows.

Im just glad I got mine at MSRP. I paid 30k, taxes included, for a fully loaded 05 with 7/60 mile extended waranty and a Lojack early waring system.

These dealers are real greaseballs

What dealership in Va quoted you this price? I would be interested in knowing this. The markups are crazy. What else can they squeeze out of us?

some people just gotta have one. me personality, i would never give a dealer my hard earned money. they make plenty of money off each car. be patient and that mark up will disappear. not to mention, let them get the bugs worked out of the new design. lets hope they fixed the 3650 seeing they won't fix the one in my 02.

Yup, here in my city(about 1 1/2 hours north of L.A.) they are charging MSRP plus a little more.

Are you talking about the manual tranny? I note inthe 05 owners manual that you will damage the trans if you shift into 1st gear at greater than 15 mph. What gives?

PS I got my 05 GT premium loaded except for shalker 1000, with taxes etc for $28,800.

I went by Power Ford in Torrence, CA (LA) today to check out the new mustang. The sales manager said they were getting $5000 OVER MSRP for the GTs!!! They only had V-6 models and that he expected to be sold out of GTs for the next 6 months. Needless to say, I won't be buying from them...

That has always been the case on the T45 & T3650. If you downshift into 1st gear @ speeds >15 MPH you can damage the synchros. You can get away with 20 or so MPH, but I wouldn't risk it.

Don't buy them at those prices! Let the dealers build up an inventory first....if you can hold out. I guess I was very lucky to get mine $300 below MSRP.

My local dealer has a legend lime gt in msrp of 26,000 with a $2000 "Limited Availibility Markup"

The only way you will get a dealer to give you a good price is to order one....if they finally get a 05 stang that they were allocated for stock, they are going to want and get top dollar for it. If you throw down a deposit and order one then you will get alot better deal

There's an Audi dealership across the street. When the Audi TT first came out they wouldn't let me test drive without a purchase contract! I was in the market for a company car at the time. I just walked away.

And when the NSX came out, the dealership was asking--and getting--$40K over MSRP.

Some people are crazy.

Northern California Albany Ford has '05 'Stang Silver GT-5spd-
They have marked it up $4,995!!
$32,500.

The car is beautiful, my 1st look at the new Stang. Impressed with quality of build,the exhaust note is fantastic.
thought the engine compartment was
frugal, valve covers were chintzy already
discoloring.
Guess if you order a new one they lose the markup.
This is a great site, by the way.

I don't know about California dealers, but here in Illinois, at the dealership I am working at, we don't overcharge for the 2005 Mustang. Even though we can't keep them in stock, we are selling them at invoice. If someone wants to get in line without being overcharged, drop me a line. This excluded California folks, because I can't deliver there. Anywhere else, I should be able to arrange a courtesy delivery.
We had a loaded one on our floor that lasted all of three days. Several of the ones we ordered are coming on line, but not spoken for.
