I'm having a problem with my new 302. When I sit at stop lights, or take sharp turns my car will die on me. I'm not sure if it's my fuel pump or carbureator but is this a common problem?

Probably the carb. A sudden stop sloshes the fuel in the bowls to the point where it erupts from the vent tubes and this floods the motor. What carb do you have? If it's a Holley, there's a fix for that.

I'd start with the fuel bowl levels and the idle.

It's a Edlebrock AVS Thunder Series 650 #1806 w/an electric choke.

Holley has some plastic vent extensions that extend into the tops of the bowls to cure the problem.

I used to have this problem with my Performer Carb... I adjusted the float level to proper spec's and it solved the stalling problem.
