What is the difference between a 302 and a 302 Long block??

Usually the difference between a Shortblock and Long block is HEADS, possible also valvetrain, cam and timing chain...

Like rick said. It is not that the block is any bigger, it is just the amount of assembly and parts that has gone into the botor. A shortblock is basically the bottom stuff. Crank, rods, pistons are assembled into the block.
