I have a '04 GT 5 speed. I want at least 4.10's but am a little skiddish about going as low as 4.30's. I drive mostly around town and some highway driving but do not go to the track much at all and do most of my running and gunning on the streets with people. I am curious of the rpm's I would be turning at 60mph with the 4.30's. How much difference would I notice from the 4.10's to the 4.30's. I know what the 4.10's are all about but am thinking about the 4.30's instead. my car is staying N/A too. What do you guys think.

This is the best gear calculator I've found. It will answer a lot of your questions. The best advise on gears is to decide what your goal is for the car, fun to drive, best ET, fastest on the street and then go from there.

thats a great calculator. The difference in rpm's is minimal. I was thinking though, which one would be better as far as street performance. My plans for the car are to set it up with drag suspension so that it will hook up and build the motor a little. Other than that I am done. What gears would everyone reccomend

Having run recently with both I give a big thumbs up to the 4.30's...most of my driving is around town as well, with about a 10 mile hwy trip mixed in daily to work...cruising at 60mph is fine....70 even better

Don't get me wrong though, the 4.10's were great...ran the 13.08 with em...but it feels like you are always in the sweet spot with the 4.30's.

not too bad when you are cruising though. I just used that gear calculator and it said about 2700 at 60mph. Does that sound about right. Is that too hot for these motors to be running on say trips etc. I do take trips and dont' want to have to worry about the engine revving too much

Sounds high to me....maybe at 65-70 but not 60...no way.. I really think you are looking for the same thing I am in a car...trust me the 4.30's are much more fun around town than the 4.10's were.

2700 sounds closer to 70 to me I'm JUST reaching 3,000 at 80~. I love my 4.30's, wouldn't change a thing (except for the traction )

Hey Cadde300, I finally remembered to take note of my RPM's on the way to work this morning....at 2700rpm's I'm cruising pretty comfortably at 75mph...just an FYI...so did you make the jump? What's the latest??

I was in the same position you are, but I pussed out and went with the 4.10's. Im not complaining about them at all, very noticeable up from the 3.73's, and it will be better off when I throw the big bore stroker at her next year sometime. 4.30's would have been too much for that combo.

well i haven't bought the gears just yet. Just trying to get my mind made up which I did. 4.30's are going in. Especially after you guys told me what you are running rpm's wise...not as bad as I thought. I'm going to get the old lady to buy them for me for our anniversary in July, if I can wait that long. I will post when I get them in.

Good choice. You'll love the 4.30's. All the top n/a racers on this board are using 4.30's. Many of them drive their cars daily on the streets.

OK, I'll play devil's advocate - Does 1st gear even exist with 4.30s?

you basically answered the question yourself. the difference between the gears are minimal. just get the 4.30's

I'm also looking at gears. I have a 04 Mach and when I use this calculator it says with the 5sp that my rpms at 70mph would be 3161.

At 55mph they are 2483
