Ok so hello......
I'm putting a 5.0 from a 88 in a mid 60's jeep.
I rebuilt the engine and put all new sensors on it and I'm using a painless maf harness. Yes I know I'm still running speed density but the pinout are the same except for the maf harness and certain emissions that painless has deleted.
I went to test start it this weekend and I have a crank no start situation. Fuel pressure is 44 psi when the pump runs. I get the pump prime when I turn the key on and it runs when cranking the engine. I replaced the distributor thinking the PIP sensor was bad and still won't start. I have a injector pulse while cranking the engine and 12v to the red injector wire. If I spray ether in the intake it will start. If I manually pulse the injectors with a 9v battery it will start. So that rules out mechanical possibilities in the engine and no spark or timing wrong. It only runs for about 5 seconds and shuts off. I replaced the computer with a advance reman and still won't start. Just cranks and cranks.
This is a rolling chassis. No body yet. The grounds for the ecm are to the negative battery terminal and the 3rd ground to the intake manifold as per painless instructions. Then I have a 2 gauge ground from the battery to the cylinder head bolt.
The koeo test brings up emissions codes a neutral safety switch code and sometimes a map tps and ect out of test range.
What baffles me is if I keep spraying fuel in it, it runs. But as soon as I stop it won't run by itself.
Like I said all the sensors are new, injectors are new, fuel pump is new walbro 255, fuel lines are new, distributor and coil is new, basically everything is new lol.
Can someone please help before I send this harness back to summit and exchange for a carb and intake.
