In theory, adjusting the TV cable so that there is no slack at idle should result in a correct setting. But they say that you can only confirm this by using a gauge. The adjustment is made by popping the cable end off the throttle lever at the throttle body with a screwdriver, at which point the the white plastic locking pin can be accessed with a small screwdriver, to free up the cable end for adjustment. Once the correct setting is determined, the white locking pin is pushed back into position and the cable end is popped back onto the throttle lever. Too much slack in the cable will result in early and soft shifts. Tightening the cable too much will raise the shift points and make them harder. I just swapped in a used tranny and installed a B&M shift kit, and the no-slack setting resulted in ideal shifts as far as I am concerned. The trans holds the upshift just a fraction longer than I expect it compared to the stock trans that died, and the shifts are pretty crisp and firm. If you have to, they say it's better to err on the side of a too-tight cable, with higher and harder shifts, which means that there's more TV pressure than not enough. Good luck.
