Hey guys. I am brand spankin new to this section of Stangnet. I have a question about these two drivers. Do you think I'll get the same volume out of a pair of the JL subs as the older (10 years?) Kicker Impulses? I have the 75w/channel amp running the Kickers, now. They sound good. The JL's would be saturated with the 75w rms, which is a very good thing, as the Kickers are not.

My aim is to use the .17 cu ft (sealed) enclosure size to delete the big ole box in my trunk. I would mount the JL's on the parcel deck (94 GT) and build a fiberglass enclosure below to seal them in. I want to make it so that you can't tell that they are there, unless you look.

I listen to metal/rock mostly and occasionally get into a jazz/classical/r&b mood. I don't need huge SPL, just awesome sound quality.

Thanks!

If you aren't planning to break any SPL records, I'd go with the 6s just on the basis of having a lot more tuning flexibility with larger boxes.

Agree. Also, I never cared much for the Impulse line. They were pretty "thin" sounding, and didn't handle power well. If those are JL 6w0's, they'll actually handle much more than the 75 watts.

I haven't bought them yet but, Yes I am considering the 6w0's. Looking at the JL literature, it looks like the "sweet spot" for power is about 75-100 wrms. At 4 ohms, my amp is rated at 90 wrms. Sounds like a perfect combo. Do you think?

I'll be using a pair of 6.5" mid-basses (45 wrms/channel Infinity amp) in the doors for the mid fill. Then a pair of JBL 5.25's (head-unit power) in Crutchfield kick panels. I may use the Mach tweeter mounts on the doors for tweets. Does that sound like a pretty decent plan? Would the tweets be too far away from the mids in those locations? I'm looking for a "live concert" soundstage.

i was just going to say how disappointed i am with the kickers i have...i think the poly cones are what give them their
"thin" sound.i dont think you can go wrong with the jl's (im a jbl man, myself, my 65 has a set of 4's in the dash, a set of 5 1/4's in the kick panels, 6x9's on the rear shelf, and a set of 12" subs behind the rear seat, firing forward... all jbl, and all driven by jbl)

Since you haven't yet purchased, consider the Elemental Designs 7kv2. For the price, it won't be touched. I thought you already had the JL's.

Is there a website that has the info? Where do you get them?

Just found their site. They need WAY too much power for the amp I'm running. It's only 75-90 wrms/channel.
