I don't recall the brand, but the parts houses used to sell a smaller tach that attached to the steering column and it would tuck nicely between the gauges on a 67-68. Only thing it covered was the high beam indicator.

It's been twenty years since I last had one. I looked on Advance Auto's site and they listed one mini tach that was about right. The diameter was something like 2-1/2 to 2-7/8 that fits between the gauges on a 67-68. The Advance tach was an "Actron" mini tach and sold for about $40. They have these in stock at the stores.

MustangsUnlimited has one. It fits and looks great. I can't atest to the operation as I have not put the dash back in the car. I've only installed it in the bezel as of yet. I got the 8K looks nice in the clock location.

I used to run a Sunpro Mini Tach in the same place years ago, worked fine and wasn't too hard to fab a mount to the back of the dash. Seemed to match the rest of the gauges ok also.

I wouldn't worry about buying it off ebay. I purchased one from him there and it was a beatuiful transaction. It actually came to my door faster than most ebay shipments that are from the states. I live in Washington and he is from Australia. The service was exceptional as well. I had a problem with the wiring and communicated with him via email and he solved my problem. Go for it. The one from Mustangs Unlimited is one of his tachs if you really want to purchase it state side.

Just had to chime in here. I ordered the 6k version off eBay, and it is probably my favorite modification that I've done to my car!
It came very well packaged and fits beautifully in the car. I had no problems installing it and it works great.
I recommend it highly and the last time I checked, all of them were coming from Mustangs Unlimited, even if you buy off eBay.
Anyway, the guy that builds it in Australia did a fantastic job I think!

I put a sunpro 3 inch tach in the blank where the clock was in 1990. Clipped the light lead that comes with it, to supplement with a green from the dash, colored over the sunpro label with a paint pen...most people dont even realize its there. Easy and cheap!
