I frequent DFWstangs alot because I've got several friends on that board. However on Saturday I finally went legit and bought an 06 Vista Blue GT. So now I'm making rounds at Mustang sites looking for technical information on mod ideas.

just thought I'd say hi and pop a few questions:

The first thing I'm looking to do is to replace the Crapper 500 with a head unit that will allow full control of my ipod while it sits in the glove box or my arm rest. Right now my sites are set on the Alpine CDA-9157 and 9156. There is about a $150 price difference between the two.

Does anyone have any technical drawings of the Shaker 500 wiring and do you have any suggestions for the HU replacement? I'm planning to use the stock amps and speakers for now. Any gotchas?

Oh, and here are the obligatory pics

You'll own the car in six years and you already want to spend money on a head unit?

Nice job! I searched Tuesday night for 2 hours and found a few manuals. I drove 1 1/2 hours to get to the dealership (after calling them and telling them to reserve it for me), spent 3 hours waiting at the dealership, only to find out they wouldn't take "such a high end car" for trade, and would have to sell it to a Dodge dealership, therefore, could only give me $19,500, when trade-in value is over $25k and retail is $29,500. So sadly, after staring for 3 hours at my torch red/red interior/shaker 1000/18" polished bullitt mustang, i had to leave without it. I'll be damned if I was going to have a $36,000 loan on a $29,000 car, even if it was 0% interest.

Anyway. Congrats!

Aint it sad that the dealers will never give you what they should on a trade!?! It really discusts me, We traded an escape in for the wifes Toy and it was in such mint condition when we did it and I mean MINT. I make a custom floor liner for all our vehicles when we get them so there was not a grain of dust in it and not a nick in the paint. LOL I told them if they did not give me what we owed there was no deal. They knew it after looking at it and realized it was a mint. first time I ever beat a dealer up.

Yeah I know. Well, I told them when I went in I knew retail was $29,500 and trade-in was over $25k, and I was wanting very close to that. I told them that over the phone. In fact, they should have told me over the phone that they wouldn't be able to take my trade, that they'd have to sell it to a Dodge dealer, before I drove an hour and a half.

I bought the 06 with the shaker 1000 and Ford was not offering a Sirius unit for this application. My first mod was a Pioneer AVIC d-1 navagation with Sirius(Stern) and Ipod adapter. The factory subs and amps sound really good, and the navagation looks factory...not to mention the Pioneer unit is higher quality than the OEM unit in my wifes Acura.

I have the Alpine (the more expensive of the two mentioned). I highly recommend it. The ipod controls and display are great. The difference between the units is the display. I'm glad I got the most expensive one for the display.
