8.8 Rearend weight bolted to the bottom front of the housing ?

I think you are referring to the dogbone. A big u shaped thing in front of the diff. It is supposed to help cancel out harmonic vibrations or something from the stock gears. If you have aftermarket gears at all it's pretty much worthless and can be removed. A debate will surely ensue about it's usefulness , but most people will just yank them especially if they've done gears. Although it is a decent amount of unsprung weight over the rearend so I suppose it may help a bit with launching on a car that needs every possible bit of weight over the rear.

i believe you're talking about the dogbone. if so, it's a harmonic dampener to reduce vibrations from the rear end. most people have been able to remove it without any driveline vibration issues.

Haha, I threw mine out long before I even knew what it was named. I figured it had something to do with NVH, and hey, its a Fox, not a Mercedes.

Anyway, I've been driving the car for 2 years without it now and have had no issues. Also, I have aftermarket gears.
