Going to upgrade my oil pump and water pump. Which is better for pumps, high pressure or higher volume. Going to be a street daily driver with a mostly stock engine. Recommendations?

Personally i like Ford's own OEM oil pumps....i figure if they last 200k+ miles on the original 302s, why not just go with what works? Unless you have a serious race engine that is..

for your engine you don't need hi flow or volume. stick stock. I also suggest the melling pumps, available at autozone cheaply. I do "believe" they make the stockers. Thousands swear by them, and that's what I run. It was a lot cheaper than the ford oem one, though you can't go wrong with either.

do take the time to upgrade to ford racing oil pump driveshaft. It's only $20 and it'll insure against twisting of the oem one which is common. Stay away from non frpp shafts, as they need to be "sized" vs the frpp, plug and play.

So since the oil pump is outta the way what about a water pump? Stick with stock or a hi-flow one? My wifes thunderbird never gets to the middle of the temp gauge when she drives it. It goes well beyond it when I drive it.
