Well I thought my headlamp switch was bad. However I used a test light and probed wires. I found the wire that goes hot when i turn on the head lamp switch. Its a red with yellow stripe. So the switch seems to be ok. But I dont know where to look now.
My flash to pass works. In fact i have been wedging a small item behind the turn signal stalk to make the hibeams stay on at night.

Is there a relay for the head lamps? I know the parking lights have a relay.

I am sure its probably simple I just havent found the problem yet,

Where did you probe, at the bulb or at the switch? If you have power to the bulb, but still no light, check for ground. Yes there is a headlamp relay.

had a similar problem on my 91 gt. turned out to be the directional switch. turn your lights on and wiggle the turn signal lever see if your headlights come one.

I have narrowed it down to that very part. Its called a Muiltifunction switch. I am pretty sure its bad. I am gonna find a used one from a buddies shop and replace it.

No power to the bulbs at all.

Jason, where is the relay for the headlights?

Droptop, the red/yel wire goes to the MF switch. I would first make sure that it did not back out of the connector at the MF switch. It can also burn at that location.

Otherwise, as you know, the flash to pass still works even if that red/yel wire is dead. A new MF switch would be next (80 bucks or so last time I checked).

thanks. I have taken it apart and the wire was still connected but melted the plastic connector on the harness. everythings ok there. the MF is bad. Ill replace it and all should be good.

funny u guys are talking about his, mines going out too on my 92 gt. Just last night the lights kept going off and i had to jiggle the switch.

I replaced the MF switch and it fixed everything. Thanks!

Drop/Hardtop (ok Shawn, that is easier), I agree with the above sentiments. If you feel like a small winter project, installing relays on the lows, highs and fogs is a good idea. I did on mine to relieve stress on the switchgear. I now have a few hundred mA going through the switches, rather than 15-20 amps.

Glad you got it though.

I had changed my name on stang net but when it crashed awhile back it reverted back to droptop. No biggie. But that swhy on corral its 5.0hardtop and on here its still droptop. Its also sljccj on www.50tech.com But I answer to Shawn too LOL
