In the same vein as another post here, I'm interested in getting a '97 or '98 Cobra. Any common problems with these cars?

Common problems in no particular order:
Getting pulled over for racing
Getting Speeding Tickets
Spending a fortune on Tires
Deciding which chick you'll be taking with you

Seriously though - only thing I heard was the 97's had some kind of cooling issue.

peace

I've heard of a few people, besides me, having problems with ball joints and tie rod ends. I have a nice little squeak every time I turn the wheel.

Oh, if its got gears then it will have bald tires... but making them bald will be fun.

I forgot- some run hot. Mine runs at the A in "normal" all year round. Also, the 96's have a TSB about this. The car was changed in 97 inorder to solve overheating problems of the 96.

Yeah tires are a big problem. It seems that a lot of the early 97's have had nearly the same heating problems as the 96. The other problem with the Cobra's is. Once you've had 32v. It's hard to drive a 2v even on a test drive.
