Hi all,
my brother is looking at a 96 convertible cobra 5 spd thats been
painted, and was trying to find out the original paint color.
the paint code on the plate is RC (platinum?)
looking through some websites , i thought the 96 cobra had only 4
colors to choose from and platinum was not one of them.
any help clearing this up is appreciated

You are correct, platinum was not an available color for a 96 Cobra.

96 Cobra Convertible paint codes:

Black (UA)
Red (E9)
White (ZR)

96 Cobra Coupes, add Mystic (LF) to the above color choices.

Are you sure it's an authentic Cobra? I would run the VIN number by the folks at SVT (1-800-ford-svt) to make sure. It's quite possible the car was a GT and somebody attempted to swap over some Cobra stuff and try to pass it off as a Cobra clone.

im getting the complete VIN tonight, but when he saw it he did notice that the engine identifier letter is V, which is Cobra right?
Do you know which number in the VIN would identify it as a convertible?

5.6.7th didgets .P45 for gt convert ,P49 for cobra this is from my 03 ford disc. Not sure if yours is the same 1fafp??

thanks , ill update when i get hard info.
so far it looks sketchy, but who knows!
