Me and my buddy tried to recharge my ac today and it would not work. There is 2 valves one called upper and the other lower. I guess the lower would have been the one closest to the fan on passenger side and upper on driver side closest to firewall? Anyway the lower one was too big for the fitting on this recharge kit and my valve dont unscrew to change without installing a whole new line. The upper we tried and it was like nothing would come out of the can and the pressure reading on the can was mid range in the red which said danger on label. ANyone familiar with this and know if I can get a different recharge kit that fits the lower valve? Or if I should just take to a shop what would it cost roughly?

If the compressor doesn't engage, it's tough to charge the system.

If your compressor wasn't engaged, the low-side was not being pulled down so it would read high.

Was the system vacuumed beforehand?

If not familiar with AC systems, it might be best to let a shop vacuum the system and fill it.

First question. What refrigerant were you trying to charge it with? It's not a Freon system. Different fittings and refrigerant. You want R-134a. Different fittings. The charge valve is driver's side about mid engine. Capacity is 34 ounces but you can't measure that without the proper equipment to evacuate the system and do a recharge.

Sounds like you need a professional to take over. Take it into the shop.
