A little help

I just bought a 2.3L with 150,000 miles for $150. It is in pretty good shape and the only major problem is that u have to let it sit and warm for about 20 mintues before it will shifit from frist to second. Fluids are fine and i changed the screen and gasket at the start. Not sure how to tighten the bands like the book calls for and i dont wanna drop a new tranny in until im sure ive gone through every little minnor problem it could be. Also after the few times i have driven it when i turn the car off and get out smoke poors uot from under the body near the first cat...however nothing seems to be dripping on it. And when u press the gas pedal oil comes fro the tail pipe! An ideas? Thanks for the help

Beats me, honestly... the auto trannys in these cars pretty much sucks, so there's a chance yours may be about dead. As for the oil out of the tailpipe thing I have no idea.

Jeez, I hope the body's in good shape Let's talk about the oil in the tailpipe. Do you mean drops of oil, oil smoke, oil streams? Does the car smoke at all when it's running?

Sounds like you bought a good candidate for a parts car or a serious project car.
