lol it's just an opinion but in a wrong place lol. New cars are great, the smells, you get to choose the options and colors, the fact that no one has taken your car to a drive-thru and spilled pepsi on the seats... But speaking from experience, I used to change cars every 6 months until I lost so much money I got forced to go under bankrupcy. I got a sore spot for new cars and won't buy another one until I pay for it cash and plan to keep the thing for a looooooooooooong time No hard feelings.

Yes, but that's the kind of point that doesn't have much relevance. There's always rare limited-production Mustangs in the past, and they will always be collectible. But few people are willing to sacrifice all of the progress and strides in engineering you get with an all-new platform, just to have some "exclusivity" that only you and some other Mustang fans on the road are even aware of. Most people wouldn't know a Cobra is limited production, most people wouldn't even tell the difference between a 6-banger and a Cobra (most people are drones of course ). My point is that you should buy a car for personal reasons, because that's the hunk of machinery that you want. If it happens to be limited production, that's good icing on the cake.

The relevance is to the question: "who wants a 2004 even if it is a cobra..."

Your point is why "most people" buy V6's instead of GT's. My intension is not to have a collectible, but to have something that is more exclusive. When (or if) the next Cobras are available, I'll probably get one. But that's just my personal reason.

I usually buy the limited production models, but not for exclusivity at all. I could really care less about that. I'm all about the hardware. It just so happens that the low-production pieces are also the top-line in every respect, from styling to comfort to performance. My '00 silver Lightning is fairly rare, but I bought it 100% because of what the package consisted of. I would have bought it if they were making a million of 'em. It's the car that really creates the desire. The rarity an after-effect due to the fact that it's a very shallow market that will step up to the plate and pay premium money for the premium performers. I'm not arguing with you really, just pointing out a different standpoint. A ZR-1 Corvette is a super-rare and exotic car. But now that the every-day-common-bread-and-butter C6 outperforms a ZR-1 in every aspect, in a far more refined and developed and modern platform, values and "exclusivity" of ZR-1's are tanking. Of course, it'll be awhile before the 03-04 Cobras get trumped on the performance front, but it'll happen eventually and they'll take a step back on the exclusivity foodchain.

The dealer up the street is selling new Stangs for MSRP.

*sidenote* they had a Ford GT (silver) ropped off in teh showroom, I almost passed out staring at it for about 30 mins.

Not likely. If Ebay had caught them shilling their own auction, then it would be canceled (bids, auction, everything).
