I haven't. But I do have a 302 in a 1965 and I can tell you that the RM mounts are not needed. If you want the engine to sit higher then use '66 mounts. If you want it lower than use early '65 mounts. I do plan on getting the RM adjustable mounts when I do my 351W swap because header/shock tower clearance will need tweaking.
I was thinking of using them because I am putting in R&P steering and have aftermarket headers. Engine Bay just painted, so I want to do everything I can to
minimize damage. Also would like to be able to reduce problems when I swap my C4 for an AOD next year.
Are there any other mounts that would accomplish the same as the RMP adjustibles?
$200.00 is a bit steep.
I just did everything you are going to do in my 67. I went with the "Prothane" poly engine and tranny mounts from Summit for around $130 total, works great. Unless you have a reason to need the adjustment, I wouldn't worry about it. Just research the heck out of your components and likely you'll be fine. I did FPA headers, TCP R&P, AOD, X-pipe exh. sys, Milodon oil pan. I did have to dimple one header tube to clear one corner of the engine mount but no big deal.
I can tell you how they work next week when i put my motor in my car. I take comfort in the idea that there adjustble, and will be more forgiving when it comes fabing up an exhaust.
We're using them in our 66. With their adjustability, they allowed us to move the engine rearward enough to clear our AL radiator and electric fan. We also used RM AOD trans mount. It all worked very nice. Even if you don't move the engine rearward, the adjustment allows fitting headers easier
Sounds like most people using them are happy with the product when installing engine, trans and other components.
Has engine vibration been reduced or affected at all by the use of the adjustible mounts. My engine, before rebuild, was very rough.
Love the added adjustability. But the side brackets that sandwich the bushings are half the thickness of the tcp ones. They actually flex when you tighten them down. The tcp ones do have adjustment but not nearly as much as the rm one, but the tcp's are way beefier!
