Resolved aeromotive fuel system

Anybody have the complete aeromotive fuel system? I had installed the competition kit and i feel that i have gotten slower. It doesn't make sense
to me that a bigger fuel pump and bigger lines make for a slower car compared to stock. My car isn't heavily modified, just has edelbrock perfomer heads , f303 cam, and trick flow track heat intake. With the stock fuel setup i ran a best of 13.7 @ 104 mph, that was over 2 years ago, i take it back after upgrading and now i run a best of 13.8 @97 . this makes no sense to me. The problems that i have with this fuel system is everytime i start it from a cold start it seems to have to crank a lot longer before it starts
and when the car gets below a half tank it wants to die if i come to a stop to quickly. Shouldn't the larger fuel pump keep pressure in the lines? It seems like its not retaining pressure. I almost feel like downgrading back to what i had.

Well a lot of Aeromotive owners have the issue of when it gets below half tank the fuel sloshes around and pulls away from the sump and stalls. The new Aeromotive tanks have a baffle/box around the sump to help keep fuel in. Keep the fuel 1.2 tank or higher to prevent this.

What kit are you using? Competition? A-1000 or Eliminator pump. Are you running the same fuel pressure?

thanks for your reply, well i have the competition kit and it came with the 255 lph pump; is it possible for the pump to be bad and not run to its full potential? i guess my only way of knowing if i am sustaining fuel pressure
is to look at a guage while driving it, but i have yet to do this. It seems like
ever since the installation the car is not running like it should be, i am running
44psi, and i think im done messing with the pressure for now, it doesn't seem to be doing anything

I dunno if fuel lines work like sprinklers, but assuming they do...

When my father and I were installing sprinklers in our back yard, we figured a larger pipe would give better pressure... So, we put a decent size line in, and when we were all done, we turned the sprinklers on only to see them sputter and barely shoot any water at all... I went online and found that smaller lines=more pressure.. So, we downgraded the size to get more pressure and lo and behold, our sprinklers work fine now...

What I'm trying to get at is, it might be possible that the larger line is not allowing you to build enough pressure..

I bet your a little fat, drop the pressure back to 38psi and see how it acts.

As far as pressure the A-1000 has plenty to fill the -8 feed line

that theory doesn't really apply here.. in the case of a sprinkler system there is only one way out and nothing comes back.. with a fuel system, especially when you get into high Hp, it's all about volume. you want to make sure that the lines and rails will hold enough volume that the injector will never starve for fuel.. unlike your sprinkler analogy, a fuel system, atleast through 98 all have a return line that returns unused fuel. the pressure is applied via the regulator on the return line after the rails that backs up everything infront of it. this not only ensures volume, but pressure inside the larger lines and rails.

well i dropped it back to around 39psi and it does seem to run a little better, i guess i wont know for sure until i run it at the track again; its very weird to me how i can run, around the same quarter mile time (within a .1 sec ) but lose over 7 mph

Are your 60ft comparable. If so I would find another track.. see if you run about the same at both.. may very depending on weather but you may find the track is off.. I know we have a track around here that it is said mph reads fast, so perhaps your track is off.
