Has anybody installed airbags in these cars before? I'm thinking about doing it myself and wondered if anyone had any tips for me.

What happened to the ones that are in there now?? If they blew, then make sure you check out the crash sensors.

Just diconnect the battery and wait 15 min so it drains the rest of the power out of the system. Then just pull the old ones and install the new ones.

What am I looking for on the sensors? The passenger sensor was pushed back into the condenser but it didn't break the condenser, still have nice cold A/C! I purchased driver and passenger airbags, module and sensors and I was hoping I didn't have to change the sensors. I haven't poked around much yet but I was hoping someone could tell me where the air bag module is mounted in the car.
Thanks

the module is in center console behind climate controls

as a safety step. when you turn the key on for the first time. sit in the back seat and reach between the front seats to turn the key on. if there is something wrong and the bags deploy you won't get injured. i've known techs and tow truck drivers that have been injured or killed by air bags.

I had to replace a set on my car, however the passenger unit sits low and a bit forward. I think I need to dismount the dash and shift it around, but I really hadn't messed with it in some time.

Airbag install is not difficult. I installed both of mine after an accident and a rebuild. Below are 2 threads that should help you. Anymore ?s let me know and I'll try and help but it's been over 2 years now since my install. If you think the crash sensors are bad go to a salvage yard and pick up 2 nused one's. Just make sure the car was not hit in the front. You probably could find them on Ebay also. I got my Cobra steering wheel airbag on Ebay and found the passenger side airbag from one of those national all Ford salvage yard companies. If you need I can search for the receipt and provide a number to the company. Just let me know.
