Had a 4 wheel alignment done on the Cobra today but they could not get the passenger side tire in spec. The driver side was in the green but said still needed some work. They said I would require a shim kit + labor comes out to $187.00. Question is if I got a set of Caster Camber plates would I be able to get the front end into spec w/ out the shim kit?

Assuming that you have lowering springs on the car, yes. A quality set of C/C plates would run you more than $187, but they would be worth it, IMO.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

Yeah, a set of CC plates should fix the problem, and is a much better option than shims.

Yup, been there done that. Get the CC plates and get it aligned.

On a side note, how the heck can they do a 4 wheel alignment on a solid rear axle car?

Thanks guys I just wanted to be sure. The thing is I dont want to dump $187 into shims and installing them and then down the line get CC plates which have been the plan all along anyway.

Yes MM 4 bolt CC plates FTW

Stangsuspension.com has them for $189 shipped.

the rear can be aligned if you have adjustable control arms. they adjusts the pinion angle.

Yes, however, pinion angles have nothing to do with with wheel alignment. So again, there is no way to do a 4 wheel alignment on our cars. If they try to sell you one they are ripping you off!

I know most of the newer machines do laser alignment on all 4... correct they can't be adjusted, but they still give you the numbers.

The Ford garage wanted to drill new rivet holes for mine to get it in spec.... I added plates instead..

What specs are you setting it to??? I need to have mine done this year also... I read up a little on this link awhile ago...

Good to hear. I have nothing against steeda but Im sticking w/ Maximum Motorsports. Both are nice looking but I prefer the black MM plates, will go better w/ my under the hood scheme if I ever get to finishing that up
