I have a stock 95.

Ive replaced the starter, positive and ground lead cable, alternator, starter relay and checked all grounds.

The car will slightly turn over and then nothing. I can push start it just fine. It will stay running and show good voltage. I put a brand new battery in it, and the volt meter shows very low with the key on. with a volt meter it still shows 12.6v on my battery.

What could the problem be? Im bout to put this stang on the block...

I realize its probably something simple so if you could give me your ideas it would be very helpful.

I don't really follow the voltage drop aspect or where the drop is being measured.

When it won't crank, do the headlights come and stay on bright?

If it's purely a cranking issue, have you checked for the crank signal at the starter relay (the relay in the underhood fusebox)?

ive checked continuity on the starter relay itself. the headlights dim alot when cranking. the motor tries to turn over, but the crank pulley moves like a quarter inch. I get a clutch burning smell when i try a few times. Smoke is coming up thorugh the parking break handle. it really smells like clutch, but you can move the car with the clutch in...

Did the old starter act the same way?

It sounds like your new starter might be bad. I'd not recommend trying to start it anymore but if you do, see if that smoke is coming from the starter.
