alright....heavily thinkin about a s/c but is this good or not

alright...well i wasnt really thinking too mucha bout it til someone threw out a deal for a paxton sn93 for 94-95 with every single thing needed to install. fmu, bypass, brackets, discharge tube and he said he was makin 9lbs of boost on it.

now am i throwing money away at a paxton cause ive heard bas stories about them. its at $1g for all of that. the thing i like about it is that its self contained so no drilling of the oilpan needed. are these garbage or are they decent?? is it worth it on my setup or am i just kinda dreaming?? i know ill have to up my fuel pump and a few other things but either pop my s/c bubble or gimme a thumbs up to a decent setup. thanx

They really are decent blowers for the money. What kind of issues have you heard of? I thought powerdyne were selfcontained. I didn't know paxton was also? Take the deal. It is DEFINITELY worth the money.

whell, i superchargers are good,and for that price but just the ones with the belt-driev arn't,i guess, they ten to break alot i hear. i cant remember which brand is tho. but other than that that is a great deal for a way to get some more serious power. just dont forget a tune!

cause id probably buy it and sit on it til the spring to put it on so i can save up for a tune and what not. and also, are most places able to tune with a twEECer or are there specialty places that do that?? i was debating on this or a decent set of heads (i have some pretty good worked stock heads) and the s/c setup is about the same price. id just hate to buy it and not have a decent s/c. i think i might pick it up tho

$1k sounds like a steal.. if its all in good shape. Paxtons are good blowers, ive never heard anything bad about them..

I personally would go with a bigger and newer blower. The novi 2000's are self contained. paxton and Vortech are definatly good brands and I believe vortech owns paxton. If you search the classifieds, you'll find used blower kits at good prices. I just purchased a Vortech SQ kit from a dealer for a real good price. I thought about saving a few bucks and buying the smaller/cheaper patxon novi 1000 but it wasn't worth it.

I cant speak for the SN93 but the Paxton Novi 1000 and the Paxton Novi 2000 are NOT self contained, thats why I have this funny line running from my oil pan . Prochargers are also self contained but are still contrifigual superchargers.

Mine ran MINT all summer for a total of about 10,000 miles. only issue was a sqeeky S/C belt but I'll get that adjusted in the spring. You hear ALOT about Paxton VS Vortech. Vortech actually owns Paxton but they still kept there seperate line of blowers. One thing to be said about any Paxton that you will hear over a Vortech is that the Paxton brackets are ALOT better then vortechs, very sturdy and better built.

Personally If I were you I would save your money and go w/ a Newer blower then an SN93. Its an old style paxton and if you get a newer one you can get a warranty. I bought my Paxton Novi 2000 for $3,342 and thats including shipping and a Polished head unit.

I would have to disagree with Striped. The vortech bracket is a cast piece that was very well thought out and seems to be very sturdy. As far as Paxton v. Vortech. Toss up. Either one will make you happy. Just remember one important thing:

INJECTION IS NICE........RATHER BE BLOWN !!!!!!!!!

Both brackets are nice, both very nice blowers but the Paxton bracket seems to have more to it. Ive never heard of either one having bracket problems but Ive just read on other sites that other people have preferd the brackets on the paxton more then the vortech.

Honesltly man, I wouldn't go for it. I got the whole setup, complete with a fresh rebuild (he had reciepts) for $600. I thought it was a steal, I was seeing 7#'s of boost, and with a good JMS chipped tune only seeing 315 hp and 353 tq. I changed the type F in her every 2,000 miles and the pos blew after 6,000 miles. This was with a fresh rebuild mind you. It really takes way too much to spin it. You almost can't spin the thing by hand. I'll sell you my whole setup for $300 if you want to get it rebuilt again. It's not completely fried, but has a pretty awful whine to it, not the nice s/c whine. Just giving you my opinion man, I'm not saying it wouldn't work out for you, I just wasn't happy with mine. It gets extremely hot also, my car ran about 15-20 degrees hotter with it, and was tuff to get rid of detonation.

k...this is the type of stories that i need to burst my bubble. im just afraid with the little funds i have that id end up throwing too much money at it in the long run. thats the second time ive heard someone say dont go for it. i think im gonna spend that money on a decent set of heads then

heads would be a better route at least you would have something to show of it. If you got the blower and it just dident work out then you have a hole in your pocket w/ nothing to show for it.

In 93 they started using hyper... pistons in 5.0's,,not real good with boost.They are lighter then the forged,,but are much more fragile!! I heard there fine with 5-6psi.Its s@cks because I want one too.Paxton is top notch
