First 5.0 I've seen in a movie in a long time. Right at the beginning the 5.0 raced a monte carlo or something, and I think it won.

The plot was very predictable. The villain was another high-schooler with a hopped up 2011 Mustang GT and "half a performance shop's parts." The hero's dad drove what looked like a Grand National, as it was definitely turbo-charged, except it was painted red. It also had cut-outs.

Other notable hot-rods in the movie: villain's dad had a '56 Chevy, there were all kinds of older hot rods in the movie Challengers, Chevelle's, '66-'67ish Shelby GT350, a badass hopped up diesel Dodge Pickup (little red express?).

Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie for all the cars that were in it. Unfortunately, the Hero's car of choice is a WRX. It's ok, though. I didn't mind. It made it more fun since there was the typical domestic car-guy stereotyping "Got Rice" etc...

I don't know how old the movie is. I got an "aftermarket" version at the local Afghan Bazaar.

What did you guys think?

Just watched it on youtube. Loved it!!! I think it's the best car-related movie that's been put out in a very long time. I loved all of the cars in it! Especially the STI. I thought it had a pretty good story line and was pretty realistic. But, how many high-schoolers have a 2011 GT or a badass STI??? Not many, and i'm sure that is they had one, they couldn't drive worth a crap.

Anyways, thanks for referring me to it!

Yep, everyone in the town seemed to have some kind of hot-rod or performance car. If I found a town like that, I'd probably go live there and open up a performance shop, too. Though maybe not as action packed or as cool as Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, I liked the car stuff more in this movie because the races looked more realistic (no CGI). Plus, there weren't really any glaring inaccuracies like "Manifold breach imminent" (computer screen at beginning of Fast and Furious) or "pff... Amatuer"(for spraying apparently too early), doing wheelies on apparently loose dirt, etc...

Anyways, thanks for referring me to it!

No problem. I looked for someone else's thread already, but I guess it wasn't that popular.

If you're talking about the street race between the GN and the '56, yeah, it's a cut-out switch.

Well, I made it a whole five minutes before the Euro-Asian "950 awhp 135 ft/lb of torque @ 55# of boost" import crap made steam shoot out of my ears. I guess I just can't stomach the whole "tuner" culture.

I agree completely. The Mustang culture around here has a 99:1 douche bag to normal human being ratio.

You missed all of the good cars then. The tuner culture thing is really only at the beginning of the movie.

Sounds kind of fishy. I know Subaru's are really hard to launch... Best I could cut was a 2.2 with mine... The transmissions like to blow up if you launch them hard. I am sure with a better clutch and some bigger balls I could have gotten it down lower, but it was my DD...

But then again... a mustang on 20's? haha

Ive drove a couple evo's and suby's, and I couldnt even come close to that in a mustang on the street, unless I was on some good tires/road was prepped.

the trannies on the suby's are bull****, the evo's are much stronger. Put it at 7k on the 2step, and dump the bastard lol.

wrong on the evo transmissions; they're like glass
wrx, not so hot
STi trans is just about bulletproof...I miss mine.

You can make an evo faster easier than an STi though.
