I am lookign to get a "stock looking" stereo, i have heard nothing but crap about custom autosound, but this place makes this unit, and it has RCA's for my sub and amp i have waiting 100 watts, and alot of neat features, what is the quality with these decks? or should i go twith the jenson night glo?

I posted a while back - I bought the Blaupunkt Radio w/Bezel for my 70 Mach 1 (replacing the CustomAutoCrap that I had). The box says Ken Harrison on it, so I guess they do the bezel conversion and resell with the Blaupunkt unit. It's a modern Radio, not stock looking, but sounds great and I have the original bezel if I wanted to go back to Stock. In my opinion this is a much better way to go...

Well as much as i would like that I cant spend that kind of money

And i kind of want to keep a "sleeper" stereo look to scare my friends lol and because i would rather have it look older.

If their units are good quality i will buy it, i have the 200 bucks in my pocket, and the unit is 179 i beleive.

I think that is a lot of money if you ask me...there are several models out there in the $100 range. I have a kenwood model that is 4x15. I am using a 4 channel amp (like to have an eq in my setups). The amp I have is in my glove box, but its real easy to put em under the seat. Look up the kenwood KRC-2007 Cassette Receiver. I have a 1007 in my car. Dont think much has changed. Heres somewhere to get on online:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=10030

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productId=66

put on an amp like this:

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=12853

you end up with just a little bit more into it, but get a better end product than those ones from the mustang suppliers.

Hmmm, I just bought the real discontinued Kenwood from John's Mustang that the Custom Auto crap is designed after, and the box and the unit inside had Ken Harrison stickers on them. I just assumed it was purchased at a close out sale or something.

Your car is a 67 right? Do you know if the dash opening is any different in a 66 to make use of that same Kenwood unit?

I think they are the same....mine is just under 6 inches knob center to knob center. I also believe that they are adjustable.

I think all shaft style units have adjustment in the shaft. The problem is the face part that has to poke through the center hole. Got any dimensions on that?

the face is just over 4 inches (and I mean just over...less than a 1/16th of an inch) by 1 and 3/4 inch

Update!

So I bought a Ken Harrison Stero for the 66. I haven't powered it up yet but here's the review so far.

It's a modified Kenwood unit, so I'm betting it's better quality than Custom Auto Crap.

The mod to fit the dash opening is crude at best. Pretty much just cut off what won't fit thru the dash and left un finished.

But it doesn't stand out that much when installed. It will have to do.
