i forgot what its called but that bar that comes out that connects to the tranny, im pretty sure that one is smaller then an 8 cyl, some guy ripped my dad off, some guy sold him a t-5, said it was for a v8, but it was a 4cyl tranny

The easy way to tell, is that the input shaft end is smaller on a 4cyl trans. This is the smooth part that fits into the bearing in the middle of the flywheel. It is like .200 smaller than the v8 ones.

The simple test is to put the trans in first gear and turn the inplut shaft. The 4 cylinder trans will turn the input shaft almost 4 times befor the output makes one turn. This is because the 4 cylinder trans has a 3.97:1 first gear. All the V8 T5's have either a 3.35 or 2.95 first gear.

Easy way is to get a clutch alignment tool and compare the end of it with the transmission input shaft... if the tool is bigger than it's a 4 banger tranny...
