Are solid motor mounts bad for chassis?

Should anything be beefed up to use solid mounts?

The chassis, not really. The rest of the car, well yeah. The bolts rattle loose and it's not really the smartest move on a driver... If you don't want the motor to move, you may consider the TCP ones with a urethane bushing or fab some like people are just mentioning.

Some one told me if i dont dont brace up the chassis ill twist it with them, is this true????

yeah man you will have so much torque that you will twist the chassis right off the line.. haha but then again that is coming from vin diesel so you know he might be wrong... he just lives his life a quarter mile at a time so I figured he might know..

Just keep the sotck mounts and drill a hole through them and use a grade 8 bolt. That will hold a hell of alot more torque than you think. I think I used a 3/8 bolt on mine. Read that in one of the mustang books. I haven't had a problem yeat and I run the car pretty hard.

Here is how it is done on a 65' type mount. The newer ones would be similar.

Exactly what I did. Works great. 532ft/lbs torque, 11.39 et., 2 years, no problems at all.

There is lots of misinformation out there about solid mounts. We have them on a 93 coupe and I was very surprised at how mild they actually can be. In some respects using solid motor mounts actually stiffens the frame as now the engine itself becomes a bolt in crossmember....I bet most don't think of that now do they? If anything it is more detrimental to all the other things that are bolted to the car and you may find yourself tighening up fasteners on occasion. A way to ease this problem is to take any loose fastener all the way out and insert a piece of large diameter monofilament line into the hole to act as a thread locker. I replace all sheetmetal screws with nutserts and stainless panhead machine screws....they look just like the trim screws except they look good forever.

Two words for solid mounts on street driven cars:

Lock Washers!

But the ones that TCP offer arent realy "solid" mounts are they????

I still cant seem to find completly solid mounts out there, im thinking about getting the TCP ones.
