I'm not even sure they are in the oil pan still.....Have you tried just poking the rods back in with your finger to see if they stay? Might just been a one-time thing.
my GUESS is the bearing clearances were FUBAR hence the poor oil pressure, thus leading to a spun bearing and the rod decided it was time to launch. just my worthless 2 cents... you'll find out when you pull it apart@mikestang63 I would have to dig around for that. It's been a while since I saw it.
I think I remember a Fairmont owner trying that a while back. Might it work better in a V-8 than an I-6?A little JB weld...
Depends on the next cycle of solar flares and the rotation of the Earth.I think I remember a Fairmont owner trying that a while back. Might it work better in a V-8 than an I-6?
This was the plan the entire time."Now this engine was recently built by a local machine shop. It NEVER made good oil pressure since day 1."
"Oil pressure was usually around 10 psi at idle. It would get up to 20 or so cruising. I knew it was a time bomb......"
So if you knew there was a problem from day 1, why on earth did you keep going forward? Why didn't you contact the engine builder immediately? I'd like to say I feel sorry for you, but with the avalible information, I can't. Engine rebuilds are not cheap! That's a lot of money to just throw away like that.
