I have a quick question about obtaining a door panel arm rest for a 70 Mustang in red. I search online and find black and white. Am I to assume that I have to paint a white one?

Thanks for the the help

I found the same. Couldn't even find one on Ebay. I bet someone on here has a set sitting in a cabinate...wait and see if you get some more responses.

We just picked the up and the interior is really nice, except for the drivers arm rest. It was replaced at some point and looks like it is a black one painted red. Needless to say not good.

I don't know if I wouldn't try dyeing or painting a white one rather than a black one. It's supposed to be easier to cover lighter colors with darker colors?
If you have to recolor one, the spray bomb is not the way to go. WHen I spray interior panels that are plastic, I use an adhesion agent first, then the paint-with a paint gun and good (expensive) automotive paint-like Sikkens Rally Black. I've painted over a bunch of red interior parts before with Rally Black

You shouldbe able to get a pint of red mixed up in the right shade to spray with from any good pant shop like Baps or Unicoat. Just need the paint color code.

I would definitely use a black one, and yes, you'll have to dye one. The hard part is getting the mold release agent off, or it'll act like a paint release.

Glazier Nolan might have a used one in red.

I would use black too. I would think the white one would end up looking pink. I hate dying parts though. I have never gotten good results with it the few times I tried. Now I don't fool with it at all. I find the color I need. I can't believe they don't reproduce it.

Thanks for the replies. I never thought about the white not being dark enough to cover. I work for a new car dealer and we use a guy who repairs leather/vinyl maybe I'll see what he thinks.

Thanks again

Yea, it sounded good, but everyone I asked around the shop thought the black arm pad would cover better. Let us know what the vinyl guy says...
