I was on my way back from the jersey shore and a boxter S at a toll booth waited for me revving his engine. Ok so off the line once i was able to get traction i left him in the dust. Once i was cruising at 70, i see him come up on me pretty fast, even with the boxter having momentum i dropped into 3rd and immediatly we were instantly even, then it was not even fair once i wound out and dropped into 4th... So needless to say i was at 130 before i knew it and he was probably around 115 at that point. I thought those things were faster!!!

Sweet. They're are so many versions of the Boxter's now I can't keep track.

I don't run into many Porsche's around where I live, but I have seen 4 Ferrari's and 1 new Lambo believe it or not. Not one of them even wanted to look at me. They were all probably thinking (speaking with an accent in my mind for some reason ), "Stupid American....thinks he is a match for this $150,000+ exotic machine....I will NOT even look at him. Pttt."

Boxster S's aren't that impressive in a straight line, they are 14 sec cars. In the twistie's is where they shine.

Nonetheless, nice kill! Always nice to put a cocky exotic driver in his place...

I raced one when my 96 Cobra had gears and headers and walked him. He was pist off, I felt sorry for the guy....well not really!! Isn't it fun to beat those european cars??

However the other day I raced a 911 Turbo brand spankin new 496HP AWD...I think you know the ending to this race....

True,....the MB people are jerks too. The closest street race I have ever had was a new E55 with the AMG package. That guy was so close to me it was scary. I raced two different ones like within 3 months and they both did the same thing. If I did get beat though no biggie, its a supercharged 469HP V-8 that costs almost 95,000 dollars...hehe

Old Boxters are slow, but watch out for the new ones. 280hp light car, plus all the weight sitting in the ass..They are pretty quick off the line. To provoke a Porsche for a race is an achievement. Cause all their drivers are old farts.

round here theres a lot of old farts with saleens, corvettes (c5 and c6's), porsches, mb's, etc. of course they drive the slowest everywhere even on the freeway and i hate them!

I would trade my car for a new Boxster S with all the bells & whistles. There is more to a car than going 1350 feet as fast as you can. Fortunatly where I live, you will see 10 Porsche a day and 0 mustangs. It's not so bad being the black sheep

I agree. There more to a car than 1/4 mile. But common, would you really trade your cobra for a new boxter? The feeling would be like trading 99GT to a new Miata: handles and brakes awesome but accelerates twice slower.
With that much hp you have on your cobra I think you would need 911 turbo, just to be in same power level.

hey, no offense but shouldnt you be pushing at least 600hp to the wheels with that setup? benjamin lee's 99 cobra (out of ATL built by no limit motorsports)dyno'd 723rwhp with a procharger with similar psi numbers to your vortech and he had a forged build up. just curious

There are times when I miss the refinements. Around here... you can have 1000hp but it doesn't do you any good cause there is no where to run it.

I'd engage a boxter in some twistys, just about anything actually, except on backroads it is not too safe. I think I have felt under steer once since I dropped it.
