Basic rebuild: What 306 piston with bigger valve reliefs and gives more compression?

Well some of you guys know me and my ideas. I thought about a pretty basic rebuild since my engine does have 163,000 on it and I'm sure their are things to be desired.

Anyways I'm running a pretty aggressive cam and the p-v clearance is close so I always wanted that piece of mind of bigger valve reliefs for inline heads (afr 165's). Also want a bit more compression to get a few more hp...I don't plan on boost anytime just real soon.

Suggestions? Keith Black? etc...?

get probe pistons.....forged and really nice quality

Part numbers?

Thanks for the suggestion...I don't need to spend just a ton on a piston when the rest of the parts are going to be stock

More compression is usually done with deck clearance and head milling or smaller chambers. If you are using a basic small block Ford style flattop, there is not much to be gained in compression between any that I have seen.

There are dished ones to lower compression for blowers.

If you want a compression increase with pistons, you are looking at domed pistons, which will get you up there quickly.

If you look through a piston catalog, such as the TRW/Sealed Power, you will see a lot of pistons, but the compression distance is nearly identical.

Careful decking and head milling are the best bets.

I appreciate the response Yeah I could get a piston with deeper (wider) valve reliefs and then have the block decked and afr's milled. How would I know how much to do it?

Looking for opinions on the Wiseco pistons, specifically their part number PT012H3...Considering these for a 302 short block for a buddy of mine, I am just wanting to see if anyone has experience with them.

So Rick what could be done to make my compression in the range of 10:2-10:5:1 for a daily driven engine?

I have AFR 165's (58cc) and stock decked block. My cam is rather aggressive in the lift department at .560 with duration being 224* on the intake side...

Whatcha got?

I know of a few pistons that would do it with a stock rod and a stock crank.

Wow, that is some compression

I'll shoot you a more detailed "want list" here after while when I get sometime. I'm very busy...as you are to

I am going to use a .039 headgasket. Ed done sent them off today for me...
