Battery cable replacement

My battery cable is starting to corrode. I was looking online to find directions on how to swap it out but cant find any. Is this easy? is there pictures or a how to anywhere online for a 1999-2004. I figured I would swap my negative and positive battery wires at the same time.

Battery Terminals

Chances are just your terminals are corroded and not your whole cable. I had a badly corroded positive terminal so this is what I did: I cut the terminal off at the cable and attached a brass terminal from an auto parts store. I have had no problems for over 5 years now. They now also sell an OEM-style terminal you can attach to your original terminal with some modifications. I did that on my 97 F-150 pickup last year. Your other option is what the stealership and the manual recommends: replace entire cable assembly!

I think it is more likely to be corroded inside the sheath and I would replace the assembly. A multitester should be used to determine the cable's resistance, it should be extremely low.

If you decide to replace just the terminal BoatUS has some really nice ones.

For your next battery get a sealed battery so you don't have to mess with corrosion in the future. You will pay a little extra but I think it is completely worth it.

Thanks guys but the corrosion is inside the battery cable not on the battery terminals. The terminals were replaced last year and still look new. Its the cable that's bad.

Depends on how deep your pockets are. I would agree w/Kilgore and completely replace.
