They say that the center section removes for easy addition of nitrous, but i wonder what way you would point the nozzle? or if there is a nozzle that just shoots straight in? all in all it looks killer and it makes sense with the runner lengths, should be decent on torque too.

i saw this thing a couple weeks ago and called up BBK to speak with a tech. this is what I got out of him...
-Based on dyno runs by BBKt he BBK SS gives more consistent power throughout the power band, slightly more than the performer... while the performer will give you more peak HP at one point.
-The BBK was tested on a 93 cobra and thats where their numbers are coming from.
-The BBK intake tested was a "rough casting" so the HP numbers are definitely going to be more than what was advertised.
-Also it will fit under stock hood.
-Comes with fuel rails and built in TB spacer

just my .02, until this thing proves itself over the gt40/performer, im sticking with my cobra intake.

You know, i thought it looked familier and turns out, it looks similar to the bxr intake from a while back ago. It never caught on and the company is gone now but they claimed over 400HP on a stock longblock. I can't find a picture of it online but it had 3 plenums and the tb connected to the center one. Kind of like an LS1 only with 2 more boxes to the sides. I read about it in the How to tune and modify your Ford 5.0-liter Mustang 1979-1995 on page 30.

I had a BXR intake when it cost $1200 for everything to use it but it produced 65hp at the crank just with that change same timing etc. The BBK will not produce that because it is still at least 1" to low of a runner to get the tunnel ram effect of the BXR.

To me this SSi looks like it belongs under the hood of some European pos BBK went with a symetrical design appearance, yet it's going to have a big ol' tb sticking outta the right side with the typical 5.0 inlet tract

I think the GT-40 is still by far the best looking intake out there ... even if it doesn't produce the best power numbers ... the second IMO is the new RPM II, yet it produces outstanding power figures.

Edit: If the tb and maf tube mounted up front of this intake it would have an awesome symetrical, beefy look ... like a GM TPI or LT4 setup, yet I promise that this stock location tb/maf mounting is going to look off.

The problem with that tb mounting option is clearing the dizzy and then having an inlet tube clearing the hood. I am sure they could have done it but many people want to retain a stock appearance so they would be leaving some sales behind on account of those people. That and the throttle linkage would have to be revised.

I am just curious what you had to do to make that thing fit? Did it clear the hood? Timing adjustments must have been a B***h!

Yeha, I'm aware of these problems, but the intake looks like it belongs under the hood of an F-body not our beloved Fox

BEAUTIFUL looks.....awesome runner design. 3 choices in uppers???? I want to have SEX with that intake. For the price...it will be the next to supercede my Cobra, that's for sure. This Cobra is old, ugly, and tired....... Not to mention it doesn't hold up anymore performance-wise.

BBK SSI "revisited"

So, I called BBK as well as another member and asked some questions, and to me it seems like this intake will be bad-ass. I read in a magazine today. (dont rememebr what one). But it wasen't one that I usually see often. They did tests with this intake and seems to be pretty good results. With the intake and tb. they made 35hp at the wheels. This was NOT on a stock 5.0 though. it had exhaust with long tubes, cold air, power coil, wires, ect... Simple stuff.
They claimed that without exhaust you will look into the 17-20hp range.

So my 2cents and a cup of coffe is that this looks like it will be pretty sweet.

p.s. will be ordering mine very soon!

my buddy got his hands on one of the first prototypes from BBK since he knows several people there, he hated it and just sold it on Ebay, the dyno showed a 15hp lose from his systemax. he sold it for $20 less than what he paid so they hold there value i guess

i dont believe a 15 hp loss over the systemax......................... and it is hard to come by still why wouldnt it be easy to sell for what he paid for it?
