Hi everyone,

own a 65 2+2 since last april. The engine is a 289 (4V original intake but with a autolite 4300 carb). C4 was put instead of the original 4 speed. I have changed to power steering and electronic ignition (proform street/stripe electronic distributor) since I bought the car. I am thinking to make some modifications in the near future. I want to ask couple of questions before making a move.. The car will be kinda between daily/weekend driver. You can see the photos in the garage links from my profile..

I am thinking to put 17X8 rear wheels with 245X45X17 and 17X7 fronts. 225X45X17. At the moment, I have 225X60X15 rear and 205X60X15 fronts. I have made some research and please answer based on this plan. Firstly, is it possible to put these with some minor modification to the suspension? I saw camber modifier parts, upper control arm relocation adjusters, different coil and leaf springs, rear lowering kits etc. What do I need for this modification and which brands are better quality in the long run? I dont want the car too high by the way. I want it a bit lower or close to the current ride height.

Currently the car drives too soft in my opinion. I want to make it stiffer but not a drag car. I have seen some brands and some "numbers" next to them. for the coils; they sell some active adjusting coil springs which change 480-640, 3**-480 etc etc by compression on the road.. Also there are 1 inch drop coil springs and reverse eye, mideye leaf springs. What lb/in numbers should I look for? Also if possible please write the original spring data since I cannot reach them through the net.. In addition, planning to add subframe connector kits, rear sway bars (have front sway bar, monte carlo bar, export brace)..

By the way, I dont have disc brakes I guess it is important..

Some people do not recommend polyurethane parts since they are a bit noisy and too hard.. What do you think for my application? Is the rubber ok for me or should I go for polyurethane?

Also I found some edelbrock and other brands shocks. Except the Koni, which brand would you recommend? Lots of people recommend KYB but I saw that edelbrock shock are claimed to have some great properties. Are they worth it?

Thinking to do a cam change with smooth idle. I found something in the ford racing website. Would you recommend anything better keeping the price around? Also, do I have to change anything else with the cam to get a better output? I am not after great horsepower increase. But still what will I get with the modifications done with the cam change? I am not after spending too much money here and preparing a drag car . Just want to make a scene when needed ..

Do you think that my intake and carb is out of date or a burden to my car? For example would an edelbrock rpm/performer intake with a demon carb would make a great difference in HP, acceleration and fuel consumption?

Hope I am clear and it is not too long.. I had to ask every small detail because I dont have much chance of trying the parts before buying since I am in Turkey and after I order the parts it is over until I have some more money to correct it.. Thanks for all the replies from now..
