I need a new battery for my mustang and I would like to know what is the best battery I can put in it. I am thinking of buying an interstate battery. Also how well do the optima batteries fit in a mustang?

I'm also in the same boat as you and I'm thinking Optima is the route to go....haven't heard anything bad about them so far.

Well i just want one that has a good warranty for a reasonable price. I heard that the optima batteries have problems fitting in the battery tray

well my car with with an interstate deep cycle marine battery when i bought it. Now that it's going bad i was going to go ahead and get an interstate car battery or a diehard battery

No problem if you get the right one. I've been running an Optima for many years. I had to replace one once going from extreme heat in Vegas to living in cold winters in Colorado. I took it in and they gave me a new one and I walked out...

Optimas are overpriced and dont perform consistanly. When they lose a charge ..... their dead for good. Just get a high quality regular battery.
I had an Optima and learned my lesson.

I've still got the OE battery in mine. If and when it goes I'll put another one of the same type in there.

Unless you're really anal about losing weight off the front, just stay with the good ol' lead-acid.

Even the cheapies at Autozone come with 7 year warranties... I wouldn't bother spending more on a battery unless you've got some serious charging/discharging going on from a huge sound system.

The experience I've had with Optima's, they are expensive and don't last long.

I prefer OEM motorcrafts. Got 11 years out of the one in my old 98 Cobra.

Thanks. My car also did not come with a battery tray and I also need one. Does anyone know the correct sizes for the bolts to hold down the battery tray?

same here. my optima lasted one yaer and they would not warranty it b/c my car was "modified" because of the supercharger using more power.

my buddy had the same experience with an optima in his camaro.

i dont know how they got such a good name b/c i have never heard anyone happy with them. my $85 autozone battery was MUCH better than the optima

I'm having the darnedest time trying to find a battery tie down kit short of going to Ford. Ford usually wants twice what the product actually is worth. I'm using zip-ties right now, what are you guys using to hold your battery down, after-market wise?
