What would be the best choice for cylinder heads for a 347 stroker project?
AFR 185's
Edelbrock Vic JR's
TrickFlow R-Series

or What other cylinder heads are people here using?

I'd use the victor jr's out of those 3 choices. The R heads are a big head and might be overkill for your typical street car. Just make sure you upgrade the valve sprigns as needed. I suggest a custom grind cam. With the right supporting parts, 425rwhp isn't too tough.

I'm going to have to agree with the victors too. afr 185's are unproven. People are all up on afr's jock because the 165's work well on a 302, that doesn't necessarily mean the 185's work well on a 347.

I have TFS TW's right now and I am building a 347. I am thinking of either porting these, or maby selling them for AFR 205's.

I have heard many great things about afr 185s, but sort of agree with 200xp3
and the and the trickflow R series is too big imo

I didn't mention them because i was thinking they are too expensive, but then i went and did some price checking, both sets victors and the R series come out to be very expensive by the time they are assembled, and valve jobbed.

I've heard nothing but good things about twisted wedges. That's what I'll be using on my 347. If I need more power later, I'll port 'em or add the s/c I always wanted.

Is this a daily driver, weekend warrior, race car etc?

How high to you want to spin it? Stock or aftermarket electronics? Stock or Aftermarket block? What piston are you using, cc? How much do you want to spend?

There are way to many variables to just pick a head....

Nate, we can take care of that spring problem

To take up for the AFR's...I would suggest AFR 185's.

depends on how you want to use the car, mainly street and some strip I would go with AFR 185's, mainly strip and some street I would go with AFR 205's or Vic Jr. They are both great heads. My choice of course would be 185's. Stay away from Trick flow Twisted Wedge too much bull **** to get the right rotating assembly that works with their rotated valves. I can get you a great deal on AFR 185's $1274 shipped from CFM.

Victor Jr.'s will also give you more room to grow in the future if you like.

Show me all the proven track and HP numbers 185's have made with 347's?

I see first hand what victors can do on 347s, along with canfields, and tw's.

But you don't see many 347 afr 185's setups.
So as i said above, everyone is on afr's jock on this website because the 165's work good on a 302, but afr 185's on a 347 are unproven.

Afr's are not the gods of all heads, just because the internet makes it look that way.

My plans are mostly street, some strip. Not my everyday driver. Still using the stock block, aftermarket electronics, 75mm MAF, 70mm Throttle Body and EGR Spacer, 30LB injectors, 255LPH Fuel Pump, Edelbrock RPM II or Holley Systemax, Cam Undecided-prob custom,MAC Cold Air Intake, BBK Headers, Flowmaster Exhaust( No Cats ), 3.73 gears.I am working towards 400 RWHP. The money part I havent really been concerned with. The stroker kit will be a CHP Street Fighter Kit with

Cast Steel 3.400 Stroke Crankshaft
CHP 5.400 I-Beam Connecting Rods
Probe SRS Flat top Forged Pistons (STD, .030, or .040)
10.0:1 (w/61cc head and .015 deck)
Moly Ring Set
Clevitte 77 Rod and Main Bearings

Anyways, thats All I can think of right now...

2,000xp8 - They are recommended by some pros like Ed and Rick. Any questions?

Noone is saying that they are the end all to the head dilemma.

It appears you have the dreaded AFR envy
