Alright. I've stuck with iPhone for years now. I've been a proponent no matter what. But I have finally had my final annoyance. Now, whenever I go to add a new contact the phone number goes under "radio" automatically.

I'm a Windows fan and I have Windows 8 on two devices. So I may go with a Windows phone. What else is out there and how does it stack up? I'm open for ideas.

Radio as default? Never had this happen, and I've been on iOS devices since 2010. Strange.

The best? Whatever meets your core requirements 99% of the time. If you find one which upholds 100% of the time, you won't find reliability...which isn't fully meeting your needs.

Not to derail your original inquiry, but maybe I can help you with your phone as the behavior you describe is not expected.

How are you adding contacts? Are you clicking a shared contact to add it in or are you going into Contacts and clicking the plus sign to add a contact from scratch?

The best OS out for phones right now is hands down, Windows 8.1 RT. I doubt that this is the what you'll want though, as available apps for this system don't even BEGIN to match those of iphone and Android.

I prefer the Android over iphone due to the open source nature if the Android OS. After that, it's pretty much a wash.

Android and iphone have about the same collection of usable apps. I tend to use my phone to do more computer related activities like FTP file serving etc. with my phone and iphone doesn't have these sorts of things (or won't load them to their store).

I'm waiting to see if Microsoft will ever allow the versatility of their OS to do anything other than server their own selfish needs. They may be following iphone's line.

True, but most every domestic wireless carrier has a 30-day trial period, right?

I've heard that the Windows phones are phenomenal but they lack the apps and consumer support that make the iPhone and android devices so successful. With that said the Motorola droid devices run the purest version of android and all the droid phones I have had regardless of manufacturer have synced seamlessly with Windows devices.

You're literally the first person I've ever seen say anything positive about that phone. Even the guy at my phone place refused to sell me one...he flat out said he would not sell it to me. My other had the older model Lumia and wanted the new version so I went to buy it, and he said they get so many returned and so many complaints that he couldn't "in good conscience" sell me that phone. I ended up buying her an S3 (for cheaper) and she is so much happier with it. I've also heard a lot of iPhone complaints lately. It seems like the fad is slowly going away. Most of the people I work with have switched to Androids from iPhones and are a lot happier with them.

Wait did you just admit that you let a cell phone salesman make your buying decision for you? You do realize that cell phone salesmen are even worse than car salesman and realtors right? Be very careful when buying cars and houses man you might want to bring an adult with you...

Seriously though my phone rocks they tried to talk me out of buying it as well however they got the full Kilgore experience when they did. They tried to sell me bull accessories, warranties, plans, etc. It was painful FOR THEM and I made them regret it.

Also I like having a different phone than most because I am not a ditto head or a fan boy.

I suggest you read Confessions of a Car Salesman and google mattress salesman selling techniques to understand how and why you got played in the cell phone store. You are literally the billionth person to get played in the cell phone store so do not feel too bad bro.

Bro, explain to me the logic behind a salesperson talking me out of buying the phone that cost more money? Especially since they make commission...seems to me he would have actually tried to sell me that phone if it were so awesome, especially since he would have made more money off that sale than from what I ended up buying (which he had zero input in anyway since I knew what I was buying before I even went to the store). Let me give you a brief rundown on how this sale went down:

Salesman guy "Hey welcome to the phone store how can I help ya?"

Me "My mother has thr older version of this POS Lumia and wants the newer version, but I'd just assume stomp this one into the floor than buy her a newer version of this POS" (literally almost word for word what I told the guy, but it's been since before Christmas so I don't remember word for word"

Salesman guy "Man, I wouldn't sell you that phone if you wanted it. We have a box in the back room full of them. They're one of the most expensive phones in here and they get returned more than any other phone we sell and everyone complains that they are ghay and make your balls shrivel up and cause you to grow man tits"

Me "Yeah, I haven't read up on this new model because there's no way in hell I would buy another god forsaken POS Windows phone after the mind melting frustration I've dealt with in owning the older model, and it seems to me that only douchebags like this phone anyway"

There was no "hey pal let me show you this super duper phone over here" crap, no "hey let me sell you this POS Windows phone and all these homo accessories for it" like you went through. I knew I wasn't buying that POS phone before I even stepped foot into the building. In fact, the guy wouldn't even have known I knew the phone existed if not for my mother having owned the previous version and me bringing up that she wanted to try the newer version because the old one was a giant turd.

They get kick-backs from specific companies and vendors to sell their products. Pretty common practice regardless of product. Those kick backs come directly from the manufacturer and are in addition to normal commission. Sometimes it's for selling X amount of units per whatever time frame.

Not saying that this is the case for you but it does happen and you can't trust a salesman.

Once upon a time, I got airfare, hotel, and meals for 2 to Vegas for selling a predetermined amount of a product. I wasn't even 21 then. lol

Hell yeah, I sold more of that product than the stuff from the other vendors.
