ok, ive decided that the v6 just aint cuttin it no more bcuz my buddy's 94 cop car caprice is spanking my ass above 50 mph. sooooo, ive decided to go and find me a lincoln navigator motor. what major things do i have to replace. is it the same as puttin in a 4.6 except a little tighter upstairs with the valve covers being so big. also, does ford sell the 2000 mustang cobra R intake manifold? or the heads?

Well if you did get a 4.6 in there I doubt the heads, and intake manifold of a 2000 Cobra R would fit since those cars came with a 5.4l engine.

I also think you should save up for a GT instead, but if not I'd personally go with a 5.0 instead of a 4.6.

what year is it. i know where you can get a strong built never fired up 351 with bolt ons and cam for 500 dollars. that would go in place of a 5.0 too. i wanna do this swap but i am gonna go carbed to get past all the wiring

its a 2000 and im not doing the 4.6 im doing the 5.4. i found a wrecked 02 navigator that got tboned and like ripped in half for $1300. is it even possible to swap a 5.0 in this car? has anyone ever seen a 1999+ mustang with a 5.0?

true....it is an older engine, but it's been found to produce butt loads of power. With a 96+ mustang you'd have to change over the K member to a 94-95 model so as to accept a 302/351 block.

I've seen several 302's that when bored/stroked can produce upwards of 450 hp N/A.

It'll still get the job done. Alot cheaper than it will for you, too.

If I can't figure out how to make my 3.8L go fast I may end up dropping a 460 in my vert.... I have it sitting in a pickup truck in the back yard.

That'd be more trouble than you'd ever want to deal with. You'd be better off with a stroked/turboed 4.2L. Easily 400+ rwhp.

it's my understanding that the 4.6 is nearly as wide as a 460......I've never measured them though........you could stick a 7.3 turbo diesel in it, if you have the time/money/skill

the 4.6 is wider than a 460, and i thikn weighs nearly as much. someplace on the net used to have all that info and I know for sure it was published in one of the mustang mags not too long ago, cuz they were talking about potential, this was all before everybody was putting II front ends in ClassicStangs with Mod Motors

Dude, 351M and above are all big blocks, don't confuse those with the 351C or 351W which are small blocks, but basically anything bigger than 400cubes is a big block. Thus a 460 is a big block. Still be a pain in the butt, as 98CobraClone said the K-member is different in 94-95 and later stangs. In addition to shock towers being wider in the later years in theory it ain't a bad idea, but I'd hate to see all the stuff you'd have to fabricate to get anything other than a modular in a 96 and later car.
