Not sure, I also have a 1998 GT in triple black (leather, Mach 460, 5-speed, 17" wheel option, and 3.27 gear). I do know they made 32,000 black ones for 1998, but don't know the breakdown by option.

American Muscle Mustang Production Numbers

Doesn't give numbers on color combinations though.

I'm speculating that triple black was not very rare... I've seen many 94-98 SN95's in that combination.

+1, seems like a popular combination. My guess is the number of triple black 5-speed GT's is somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,500 - 3,500... not exactly rare

May not be rare right now but the way the kids drive them up here they will be really soon. i have looked in the wrecking yards up here and seems they like to hit poles in the center of the passenger door or driver's rear quarter is all pushed in. glad mine only has 60,000 miles on it and NOBODY drives it

It's not so much whether or not the car is rare, it is whether or not it is desirable AND rare. Unfortunately the 2V SN95 aero's are and will always be the redheaded step children of the modular cars. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my car, but I have accepted the fact that it will never be worth anything. The only mustangs less desirable than the non-Cobra 96-98's are the Mustang II's. If you had a 96-98 triple black Cobra, you may have something worth holding on to (assuming it was bone stock with less than 60K miles).

Q: Is black the most bad-ass color Mustang on the planet?

A: The answer is yes...yes it is.

Its badass alright, so badass that every other grocery-getting minivan is black.

Now zinc yellow, on the other hand, is so badass that only a handfull of cars come with it because manufacturers know that not everyone can handle the badassery of the color

Do you have a vinyl top? It's not "triple black" unless it has a black vinyl top.

IIRC there were three options, exterior color, interior color, and seat color (I could be wrong and all the ones I've seen are tan interiors that have black seats replacing the tan leather/cloth). In other words you could have a black Mustang with black seats and a tan dashboard. Therefore, a black vinyl top would be quadruple black.

BTW, how is this a Tech thread?
