Block for a 393 (maybe a 408) stroker (roller cam)

My tie bar roller lifters are FMS and are the same as Cranes. I ordered them from a FMS catalog, $350, last year. I am using a normal base roller cam.
I was told that using a 94+ roller block required a different intake than earlier because of the 9.2"deck height vs the 9.5" deck height of earlier blocks? Am I wrong?

I don't know if it was my luck or what, but I went through 3 different roller blocks before I found one that is usable. I talked to several ford engine builders in the Houston area, and they seem to think that finding a great block to build on is pretty tough. I guess crap 351W castings are common. Luckily the place where I bought it from originally let me swap it over. To make a long story longer $400 for block, $50 times 2 for sonic testing, plus gas money, don't know if I would go that route again. On the other hand if you are building a mild motor and aren't that picky, you may have better luck. Hope that helps some

Yea, you've been misinformed. ALL 351W blocks were 9.5 decks ( with the exception of the first couple years which had slightly shorter 9.48" ? decks) The Cleveland and some of the motorsport ( nascar blocks) had 9.2 decks.
