will I need to have extra machine work to get these blocks ready for assembly?
Which block do you guys like more?
any other blocks to look into?
is sportsman II block same as sportsman?

BOSS BLOCK

4.125" bore capacity, finished at 3.990" to 3.995" rough bore
8.2" deck height, finished at 8.200" plus .010" to .015"
Maximum recommended stroke 3.400"
Splayed 4-bolt main on 2, 3, 4, main caps
2-bolt main on first and fifth main caps
Main bearing bores finished to low limit
Finished lifter bores
Machined to accept factory roller lifter guides and lifter guide retainer
Fits factory Mustang oil pan with custom oil pickup tube
Revised oiling and cooling system passageways
Siamese bore with drilled coolant crossover holes
Increased bulkhead material
Threaded core and galley plugs (straight thread port plugs with O-ring)
½" head bolts
Uses common OD cam bearings M-6261-J351/R351
Weighs approximately 175 lbs.The foundation for 8.2" deck projects

Dart sportsman

what bore? 4.00, 4.125
What deck thickness? 8.2, 8.7, 9.2
4 bolt billet caps on center 3 main journals
Better Machine work (DART Blocks generally require about $500 of basic machine work to blueprint your assembly for final engine assembly.)
DART blocks have billet main caps (Ford blocks are generally ductile iron)
Revised Oiling, DART blocks have priority main oiling modifications for increased oiling
4.185" overbore capacitity, DART's thicker cylinder walls allow for increased cylinder stability (better ring seal = more power) and greater overbore capacity.

Iron eagle
4 bolt billet caps on all 5 main journals
alot like sportsman but stronger from my understanding
seems like a bit much though and more $$$$

i dont know where you found these and there prices but i think the boss block would be the cheapest and will have plenty of room for whatever you want.

i know theres a guy on corral selling the new boss blocks for 1700 shipped

i also think that any block you go with will need some kind of machine work done to get it ready. align hone and cylinder honing/boring depending on what you wanna do

Think which would sound better...
BOSS 302, BOSS 331, BOSS 347 OR 302 DART, 331 DART, 347 DART.

I think they would require about the same amount of machining, of course there are some places that do the machining and sell at the original price to up sales.
