I'm restoring a 65 fastback and want to add the shelby style bolt on hood scoop. I was looking for some advice on which one to use. And good or bad stories out there? Who has the best one out there? I've heard Branda has a good one. I've also heard some bad stories about fitment on some as well. What do you all think?

Thanks!

i bought the hood from stang-aholics .it is all fiberglass and very heavy .the scoop has a finnished lip instead of just being cut out and so does the front lip
of the hood its self. the bolt on scoops i have never used , it just doesn't look the same to me .hoods are expensive so a bolt on may be the way to go if you are on a tight budget.

Thanks. With bolt on make sure before you drill figure where the bolts will end up. Don't want to hit a cross member support or where nuts would end in hard to get to spot. I had to bring mine forward a little more then where they end up on fiberglass hoods.

that is correct, i put a scoop on a 68 cougar ,it is the GTE scoop, it normaly hits right in the bracing
but if it were to hit half in and half out you may have a problem so i would measure carefully first

Any idea how much added clearance this hood scoop will give you? I am looking at this type of hood, or possibly the '67 style hood, and need an additional 1.5" of clearance. I don't care for the look of the cowl hood.

with the full fiberglass hood it will be just about 1 1/2 inch. with a bolt on scoop you will have to cut out the bottom of your steel hood
