Brake rotor suggestions for 1997 cobra

Try doing a search for KVR rotors. They'll make direct replacements for our cars and they'll have them slotted and/or drilled and plated.

EBC is the place to be for pads.

Also, try www.ssbrakes.com they have replacement systems that aren't too overkill if you're not racing it. They make a 3-piston caliper on a near stock dimension rotor...good stuff.

Or you might just want the Brembo original equipment on the Cobra R. Good stuff also...I reccommend that one. For the Cobra R try: www.buyfordracing.com

try tire rack. Just get the brembo replacements, hawk hps pads, and you should be good to go. the only thing with the rotors, is that they aren't coated. but there is a cheap easy fix to that. high temp black spray paint. just lay them flat, tape off where the pads will come into contact. I did the entire flat surface(tape), and found out that you need to go 1/2" further away from the center. the pads dont touch there, so I have a ring around each one to fix, but no biggie. if that didn't make sense, or sounds like something feesible, and you have any questions, pm me. but the brakes work great, very small amount of noise, at slow speeds, but definately worth the extra bite. good luck, chris. Yep, what chrisbudl1 said...OEM Brembo replacements with Hawk HPS pads...and tirerack.com has the best prices...

Or if you really don't want them to rust, you can go with Power Slot Prostop II's which are cadmium plated and won't rust...Slotted are ok, but stay away from drilled and slotted since they tend to warp and crack much easier...

Don't get powerslots....I have them on mine and they suck and started to warp. Nobody around here can turn them and they have a tapered shaft.

I bought the Brembo slotted with the bluish cadmium. They work great those and some hawk pads are way to go, not too aggressive. Stay away from ceramic pads as they will shorten rotor life. The bad thing about the cadium is that i burned it off my front rotors on my first track day. But if you get the brakes hot like that paint will burn off too. Wile your working on your brakes get a set of Russel stainless brake lines. Definitely worth the $125 from Summit. I use wilwood 600 degree fluid also. I know it sounds like overkill for the street, but even stopping 10 - 15 shorter at highway speed could save you and your car. You can do all this without having to buy an expensive racing set up, after all one of the reasons to buy a Cobra is the better factory brakes.
