Brandon5ohf150 project

Little bit lost here and could use some help getting things working. I get only my guages from tuner studio. Crank no start, assuming timing is out on tuner studio (because megalog viewer showing no spark output) but cannot change anything only get this from tunerstudio. What am I doing wrong? This is the microsquirt for the foxbody, with a 92 foxbody motor, and basically stock other than cam, pistons, and little stuff that dont make much differences in a 94 f150. I have a marine 351w ECU I can hook up and start right up drives but its needing tune. That's why I bought the microsquirt. Help please. I'm not totally lost just new program.

You have double clicked the gauge screen, double click it again to return to the tuning screen... TS has an option to run a dashboard only mode, likely you have accidentally enabled this feature. To change this back to the tuning interface follow these steps.
-open the 'options' drop box
-enter the 'performace' field
-uncheck the 'dash only mode' box
let me know if this fixes you up

I'll check when I get home it's very possible. Will update when I get home.

We are good to go it cranks again but that is it. Not Time to figure out why it's not getting a rpm signal. No spark or injector pulse because "rpm not synced"

Ok, is the spout plugged in? You get no rpm signal to the ECU so that means it's not reading the pip in the distributor. Is the gauge on the dash showing rpm?

Do me a favor and do a composite log (datalog of ignition system) so I can check the i/o on the ECU.

Fyi my first question about the spout connector at the distributor is important, the car wont run if its unplugged.

With my stock ecu it all runs with exception of the cell from the 3 bar map sensor. Also it is not bouncing if that's what you mean.

Ok. Let's stop a second and take a step back.
Have you verified that the harness from the f150 is the same pinout as the mustang this ECU is meant for? Likely it is not the same.
Is this a plug and play kit or did you have to wire it in?

It's a plug and play microsquirt from DIY auto tune. Asked the sales prior to purchase told me it didnt make a difference being it is a 5.0 harness also. If I'm not mistaken the distributor is also but the crap for information I am supplied with from the shop who has done nothing but create issues. However, all of the other guages read correctly. Just no rpm so no anyrhing on fuel/spark so it's not firing. If I pull it and put the 351w marine ecu back on they had it running with it runs. Should I start by just going back to the 92 foxbody setup like my motor?

Lets do this methodically.
- all other sensors work correctly
- what year is your truck? has the harness been swapped?
- you said the distributor is different? how so? got a picture?

lets do some google work and see if there is a difference between the two before we move further.

Yes was a 94 f150 4.9l i6 motor....
92 fox 302 h.o. mt now. Harness was off 89 or 90 5.0 and I remember something about distributor also but not 100% on that. Fuel all f150 cause of intake not letting it fit. Used 351w ecu for the firing order and tune kinda (marine). Had to use switch for ignition because injectors wouldn't fire during crank. Now I turn on fuel pump, hit switch and nothing, but key cranks it. Seeing no spark/fuel could be repeating itself from the harness possibly?

Pictures of the engine bay. ECU is not getting the pip signal from the distributor. this is easy to fix if we can figure out whats been done already. The distributor wiring is the most important at this juncture.

These are what I have if you need something more detailed let me know I'll get it also.

The butt splices were to change the coil plug to hook up with truck coil instead of car coil it's what they had to make it work. Pics of distributor and some without intake tubes in the way.

Ok... I see the distributor but it is from a 94+ engine. the TFI is remote mounted. I bet they boogered up the wiring based on what i can see. I dont understand why the distributor from the mustang was not used with the harness to accompany it. Now we have to figure out the wiring issue.

Do the best you can to trace the wiring, to where the TFI has been mounted... in a remote setup its usually on the fender somewhere attatched to a aluminum heatsink of some kind. find this pull the loom back and get some pictures of the wiring and connections I can help more once we have that information.

It mounted right under the drivers side hinge. On your truck it's called the ignition module but it's the same TFI (thick film ignition) module that is mounted on the distributor on the mustang. The wiring between your module and the mustang harness may be suspect.

Not sure but I believe that it is factory there no cuts or anything but I can double check. Looks to be I also see the plug you were asking about being plugged in or not in that pic.
