Bullitt getting a custom install

The time has come to get another Mustang in the shop and build a nice setup for WFC9. Last year, I built my fox hatch for WFC8 and loved the results. It's going to be back there this year, but this Bullitt will be sitting next to it in my company's booth in the vendor midway.

I did the layup of the spare tire well a few weeks ago, so that was out of the way. We made a rear seat trim panel today, and mocked-up the custom CNC bottle bracket I designed and my friend drew in CAD.

The sub is going to sit under the bottle bracket, flush to the floor. The bottle and bracket will be the speaker's "grill".

Fold the seats down, and the amps will be behind this panel, wrapped in Carbon Fiber vinyl and trimmed with grill metal instead of plexiglass. White LED tubes will light it, and there will be two LED spot lights in the sides of the trunk to illuminate the bracket/sub.

We got back on the Bullitt and wrapped up the tire well enclosure and finished the bottle bracket assembly. Very happy with the results so far, now on to finishing the amp rack and wiring and it'll be wrapped up.

The amplifier rack was mounted in the car tonight. The rack was wrapped in the same carbon fiber vinyl as the trim panel, and the wiring is being done from back-to-front.

Here are some pics of the rack mocked up on the bench, being wired, and with the trim panel in place.

LED lighting will accent this rack at night (lights came today!).

The list is getting shorter on the "to-do" board. The items left now are:

CNC emblem on the mesh window to the amp rack
CNC center console plate for 1/2 DIN EQ and lighting switches
CNC radio plate and arming switches for N2O system
Finish wiring
Build false panel in trunk for the back of the amp rack
Install lighting in amp rack and lighting for N2O bottle bracket in trunk

Getting close, and it's coming together really nice and smooth!

looks killer is that a fiberglass enclosure or is it all MDF for the subwoofer. im looking to do pretty much the same exact box for my 95

those are JL components right? is that a 4 wire cable for the speakers or are they just shrinkwrapped?

Urban96, thanks, it is a fiberglass enclosure with a 3/4" MDF top plate covered in trunk liner.

mrpeaches, nasty wiring is a no-no in my shop. You are seeing a 4 conductor cable to go from the crossover to the doors. One pair for woofers, one pair for tweeters. It is heat-shrinked where the jacket was stripped back.

I also made a custom amp "bridge" that matches the amps on my CNC machine. It will cover the space between the two amps, and makes it look like one long heat sink. I'll post pics when I get back to work on it this weekend.

Looks like this project will be finished tomorrow. Mike and I fired up the CNC for these parts today, which are some of the final details in the install.

There is a false panel in the trunk left to do, and some wiring. It wiill play music tomorrow, hope it sounds good!

Yes, the radio/switch plate is a custom part done in my shop. It replaces the need to use a dash kit to mount the radio, as well as putting some nice looking switches within easy reach.

Thank you! Those two parts came out great IMO also. It's fun to do some one-off pieces in projects like this one; it should help it stand out at shows and in parking lots.

Got a few pictures of the trunk lit up with the LED lights illuminating the bottle bracket and sub.

I found these 12V LED fixtures at, get this, www.blinglights.com LOL They work great for lighting the system, although "fog lights" as they call them is a stretch.

The lights were cut into the stock trunk liner panels, and back-mounted to hide the fixture:

The system sounds great, has a ton of low bass energy, and am I'm pleased with how it all came out. Now it just needs it's new engine and blower and its ready to tear up the streets!
