My 08 Bullit seems to have some checking and clearcoat cracking or fading issues on the top of the front and rear bumper covers. Annoying, and I dont remember them being there when I waxed it last fall.

Anyone else have this?

Might want to call your dealer and check your inservice date, there is a 5yr unlimited miles warranty for paint.

Without seeing any pictures, I will guess the clear coat is the culprit.

Basic Warranty 3 yr./36,000 miles
Drivetrain 5 yr./60,000 miles
Roadside 5 yr./60,000 miles
Rust 5 yr./Unlimited miles

Ok, took it to the dealer. They declined and sent me to call Ford customer line. They sent met to the dealer for them to get photos. Got photos taken.

Dealer said call Ford again.

This does not look good.

Anyone else have paint fading on the top of the bumpers?

Got any other dealerships around? Go to them, then on your next call, report that dealership for bull service.

^ Ford decides what is or isn't covered by the warranty, not the dealership. If Ford refuses to cover the repair then it doesn't matter what dealership you go to, the answer is still going to be no.

I was referring to the "declined and sent me to Ford" part where they didn't work with him through the process. The dealership should be the liaison to the manufacturer.

^ True but we don't know why they declined it. The OP hasn't posted any pictures so we really don't know what his problem is. It could be something that is clearly not warranty-able. He mentioned cracks in his original post. Cracked paint on a bumper cover usually indicates a repaint or a collision . Point is its unfair to assume that the dealership is trying to screw the guy over without knowing whats the actual condition is. Maybe they are , but we have no way of knowing at this time. Plus the dealership has nothing to loose by covering it if possible because Ford will pay them for the repair. However if they do the work and Ford says no, they get stuck with the bill.

Got the official Tier 1 Email CRCF email, and apparently the failing paint is "..operating within Ford's specifications."

No wrecks, just time. Clearcoat has cracking and appears dull. Does not shine when waxed, etc.

So, apparently the paint is satisfactory if it fails at the 5 year point.

BS, but I doubt they will do anything. Kinda reminds me of my 88 Plymouth Voyager, where the paint stripped off in big pieces. That cured me of mopars. It appears quality is no longer job 1 or whatever. Sort of pissed.
